How much does it cost to join a Bloom Academy program in Turkey?
Our programs are entirely free of charge (i.e. we do not ask participants to pay us anything). We also cover the housing cost as a scholarship. However, participants are responsible for covering their own travel and living expenses in Turkey, except for housing.
A participant can expect that they’ll need a budget to cover costs for:
- Turkey visa application:
- As far as we’re aware at the time of writing this document, it costs approximately $70 to applay for a visa from Baghdad. Prices may vary if applying from another city.
- Transportation to Turkey:
- 🚌 A bus from Baghdad to Istanbul costs $50 one-way,
- ✈️ Flight prices go up and down and vary based on the city of origin. The cheapest flight we’ve bought from Baghdad was approximately $100 one-way.
- Residence permit for long stay in Turkey:
- To stay in Turkey for more than a month, participants have to apply for a residence permit.
- The cost of the residence permit varies based on age and the duration of the residence permit. a residence permit with a validity period of 1 year costs between 500 and 700 Turkish Liras, which is approximately $55 - $80.
- Living costs in Turkey:
- In our experience, a monthly of budget of $100 - $200/month is enough to cover food and transportation in Istanbul throughout the month.
